Hello, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the mentors at Meadow View Elementary School. My name is Jerrilynn Whaley, and I am thrilled to announce that I am your new One Hour Revolution Program Coordinator! I grew up in LaRue County, and I am attending college at Western Kentucky University. I am working towards my Bachelors of Social Work. I have worked with children in many different aspects, and now I am privileged to be working with the mentors and mentees at Meadow View Elementary School. I reside in Buffalo, KY with my son Bryce.

I am excited to meet all of you on an individual basis. I have great things in store for the remainder of the school year and the years to follow. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Well, folks, it's true! May is right around the corner and the time has been passing so quickly.
This week, April 23-April 27 is packed full of events in the FRCs and full of preparation for testing in the classrooms at our schools. As a result of next week's testing schedules please remember that matches will not be meeting at Woodland and Radcliff. If you've made arrangements at Meadow View to see your mentee, please adhere to those plans.

As of today there is a little under three weeks of school left, and much like the rest of the year, it will pass speedily. Please keep your last meetings in mind and be sure to allow yourself time to complete end of the year evaluations. Also, if you are interested in mentoring next year, be sure to go ahead and fill out a background check form so that in August you can begin meeting as soon as possible.

I know I speak for myself, Amanda and Autumn when I say that none of us would trade our mentors for anything! You've all been great and your dedication is admirable. It's been our pleasure meeting and working with you.

Have a great end of the school year!

Happy March, everyone! Spring is so close, I can feel it! With Spring comes testing and the end of the school year! For those of you who like to plan ahead, testing begins April 30 and ends May 7. Make-ups will run from May 8-11. Please encourage your mentee to be on-time during this testing window, and to also get enough sleep and eat breakfast. As long as your mentee does not have to make-up a test, mentoring at RES will resume May 8. If you mentor at WES or MVES, please speak with your Program Coordinator about mentoring during these weeks.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the mild winter this year! Because we have not missed any days due to weather (as of now!), the last day of school will be May 16.

Thanks for everything you are doing for your mentee and your school!

Hello all!
This morning at Woodland we were talking about how close we are to the end of the year. There's really only about 12 more weeks of school left, and much like the rest of the year has, it will pass fairly quickly.
Some great news is that all three of our schools (RES, WES, MVES) reached their goal of obtaining 20 matches for the 2011-2012 school year. Not only that, but we also feel that each of these matches is special and unique. Be sure to check out our "Mentoring Fun" pages to see pictures taken while lives are being changed!
As always if you or a friend are interested in being a part of One Hour Revolution, go to our "Contact Us" page and fill out the form. We'll get back to you fairly quickly, I promise!
Have a great Wednesday! :)

Happy New Year! Hopefully everyone had some time off to enjoy during this holiday season! As some of you may know, January is National Mentoring Month. We just want to let you know how much we appreciate each and everyone of you and the contributions you are making to our schools and your mentee.

There were so many successful matches and stories that came from the first half of the school year and we are looking forward to everything that the second part of the year brings!

Thank you for all that you do and continue to do for the program!

We're fast approaching Winter Break and so much is going on in our schools. We've had a lot of matches meeting, been continuously updating the website (check out our Mentors of the Month and Resources tab!), and we're still managing to identify more children who could use mentors.
We're extremely grateful for all the support we've gotten from the community and all the hours put in by our wonderful mentors! We're seeing changes in our children and as a result, we're more rewarded on a daily basis in the halls of our schools.

Thanks so much for all you do and enjoy any time you have off on Winter Break!

Just wanted to give everyone a little update prior to Thanksgiving Break, which always quickly leads into Winter Break! Every school has started match meetings, and so far, things have been quite successful! If you have not been matched, please be patient. We are working very hard to ensure that we are pairing our mentors with the right child (and vice versa).
Next week, we are filming one of two commercials to promote OHR. We will post them on the website once they are finished. You can also catch us on Chalk Talk (HCEC) for the month of November discussing OHR.
We hope that you will use this blog to share your experiences as a mentor with everyone else. This is a way to get advice, share information, and connect with others who feel as passionate about influencing the life of a child as you do!
Lastly, January is National Mentoring Month and our goal is to host an event. More information will be provided as things are being planned, but tentatively, January 25th is our first preference to hold the event.
Thanks so much for all that you do!
Amanda, Contea, and Autumn

Hello everyone! OHR festivities are heavily underway these days. All three of our schools have been setting up matches and currently have matches meeting on a weekly basis. We've been fortunate enough to have a lot of people interested and already in our schools making a difference...BUT, we can always use more volunteers to serve as mentors!

If you are interested in being a mentor to a child, please contact Amanda, Autumn or Contea to schedule an interview at Radcliff Elementary, Meadow View Elementary or Woodland Elementary!

Note: All coordinators are located in the school Family Resource Center.

Happy Monday, everyone!

As we head into fall break, we just wanted to take the time to thank all of the prospective mentors who have come in and are patiently waiting to receive a mentee! Our goal is to start the matching process during fall break, host an orientation, then start having the pairs meet. We are off to an amazing start and look forward to working with all of you!

We want to welcome you to our site and the new revolution! We enourage you to connect with other mentors through our blog and share tips, tools, and your feelings throughout the year! Our hope is that you have an amazing mentoring year and that you find it rewarding as well as beneficial to the mentee. If you have any questions, feel free to come into the Family Resource Center at the school you are mentoring at or call/email us at anytime.

Have a great mentoring year!
Amanda, Contea, and Autumn
